Photographed at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit, NJ, this image has special significance because of the urn. Their form and color are a cherished memory from my childhood in Camaguey, Cuba, a city renowned for its “tinajones” (tee-nah-ho-ness), large earthenware vessels used since Colonial times to collect water. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, as in this explosion of pink rhododendrons, the attraction was irresistible. Beauty is often composed of simple things in ordinary settings as in this photograph I named “On The Fence.” This pretty garden accent caught my eye on a rainy day as I parked my car at the Post Office. Just a small area, it made a visual impact with its brightly-colored flowers against a picturesque white fence, surrounded by lush shades of green. I could envision it looking as beautiful on a traffic control box as it did on the grounds of the Nathaniel Wilson House, a splendid Victorian in East Millstone, NJ. “The Rumor Mill” was photographed at the Cross Estate Garden, Bernardsville, NJ. The parrot tulips, grouped as they are, made me think of ladies gossiping with a bee bringing some scandalous news!Installed at Warrenville Rd &  Mountain Blvd, Warren Township, NJ, October 2010.
